2012 VISIT USA Tourism Fair Brings 50 Exhibitors and Diversifies Products, with an Eye on the Growing Brazilian Market

Rio de Janeiro, May 18, 2012

U.S. Department of Commerce expects almost 1.8 million to visit the U.S. this year

With the rise of Brazil in the rankings of numbers of visitors to the U.S., the 15th edition of the largest U.S. tourism fair in the country, the VISIT USA fair, took place in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro this week, bringing 50 American exhibitors to promote leisure travel to the United States.  In Rio, the event took place at the Rio Othon Palace.

The event, restricted to those working in the sector, gathered companies and organizations from the U.S. tourism industry to promote destinations and products for the market in Brazil, the country which, in 2011, became the fourth international market in number of visitors to the U.S., and the third highest in total spending per traveler.

This year’s edition brought new exhibitors, and expands and diversifies the products offered. The event also had a series of presentations and seminars by a host of speakers from among the exhibitors. The expectation is that over 1,200 people will be present at the VISIT USA 2012 fair in São Paulo and Rio.
